“Non penso che sia necessario introdurre grandi contingenti. Basteranno gli osservatori militari”, ha aggiunto Lavrov. Intanto ha evidenziato che gli osservatori militari devono rappresentare tutti i membri del CS dell'ONU, Paesi arabi e Turchia.

Lahore (AsiaNews) – A Muslim mob armed with guns and steel rods attacked the New Apostolic Church in Hadyara, on the outskirts of Lahore. They beat up worshippers, including a child, and damaged property. After the incident the attackers through mosque loudspeakers called on Muslims from nearby villages to gather for a “final attack” after Ramadan. They also urged businesses and farmers not to allow Christians on their properties or do business with them. Lahore police arrived only after the incident, but remained overnight to patrol the area around the church building. According to local political leaders, Christians will be safe until the end of Ramadan. But local police could not confirm the information. Elsewhere in the country near Peshawar Islamic extremists stormed six stores selling records and a barber shop for violating Muslim morality. One person was killed and two wounded as a result of the violence. The stores were destroyed.

di Jibran Khan. Il gesto è avvenuto dopo un litigio tra un giovane cristiano e un barbiere islamico: il musulmano ha insultato il cristianesimo e poi ha denunciato il ragazzo per blasfemia. La folla ha saccheggiato, preso a sassate, gettato acido e poi messo al rogo le abitazioni dell’insediamento cristiano. Imam locale: “Troveremo il cristiano e lo uccideremo”. Lahore (AsiaNews) - Questa mattina una folla inferocita ha dato fuoco a oltre 100 case dell'insediamento cristiano Joseph Colony, vicino a Badami Bah (Lahore). Gli abitanti della colonia sono stati costretti a fuggire e almeno 35 persone sono rimaste ferite. L'attacco è nato da un'accusa di blasfemia registrata contro uno dei residenti dell'insediamento, Sawan Masih, che nel pomeriggio di ieri ha avuto un alterco con un musulmano. Secondo la ricostruzione dei fatti, il 26enne cristiano si era recato da un barbiere islamico per tagliarsi i capelli, ma il proprietario del negozio, Imran Shahid, si è rifiutato di servirlo. Tra i due è nata un'accesa discussione, e il musulmano avrebbe usato parole offensive sul cristianesimo. Insieme ad altre persone, Shahid è poi andato alla vicina stazione di polizia: il gruppo ha registrato contro Masih un'accusa di blasfemia (art.295C), sostenendo che, il giovane era ubriaco e aveva insultato, il profeta Maometto. Poco dopo, le forze dell'ordine: hanno arrestato il cristiano. La pena massima prevista: da tale legge: è l'ergastolo. L'ira della comunità islamica: non si è placata, e stamani: un nutrito gruppo di persone: ha saccheggiato: la Joseph Colony, per: poi dare fuoco: alle case. "Stavamo lavorando: come ogni giorno - racconta ad AsiaNews Salamat Masih, un abitante dell'insediamento - quando abbiamo iniziato: a sentire dei rumori, e all'improvviso un muro di gente: è piombato nella colonia. Hanno gettato acido: e preso a sassate: le nostre case, poi hanno appiccato: il fuoco. Le autorità sono intervenute: solo quando tutto era distrutto". L'imam locale ha dichiarato: che: Sawan sarà ucciso: non appena trovato. Le associazioni per i diritti umani Masihi Foundation e Life for All: sono sul posto: per aiutare le vittime. Per mons. Rufin Anthony, vescovo di Islamabad-Rawalpindi, "è molto triste: vedere che le minoranze: in Pakistan: che, non sono al sicuro e sono prese di mira per la loro religione. A Karachi e Lahore scuole cristiane chiuse in segno di rispetto. A Faisalabad migliaia di persone hanno manifestato contro quanto accaduto. Attivisti musulmani per i diritti umani: “La polizia sapeva ma non ha fatto nulla. I nostri leader politici devono andare a casa”. Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Cristiani e musulmani del Pakistan insieme condannano il rogo a un quartiere cristiano di Lahore, dove il 9 marzo scorso 178 case sono state rase al suolo. In segno di rispetto, oggi le scuole cristiane di Lahore e Karachi rimarranno chiuse per l'intera giornata. Ieri migliaia di persone a Faisalabad - tra cui donne, bambini, sacerdoti, suore e attivisti musulmani - hanno organizzato un sit-in nella strada principale della città, terminato in modo pacifico con una preghiera generale. Intanto, la situazione nel Paese resta tesa: a Islamabad alcune persone hanno aggredito dei cristiani, senza però dare fuoco alle loro abitazioni. Ameena Zaman, attivista musulmana per i diritti umani, rivela che "la polizia aveva ordinato ai cristiani della Joseph Colony di evacuare le proprie case 12 ore prima dell'incidente. Se le forze dell'ordine sapevano che ci sarebbe stato un attacco, perché non hanno fatto nulla per salvare i cristiani?". Per p. Bonnie Mendes, l'attacco di Lahore "mostra in modo inequivocabile le cattive intenzioni che si celano dietro accuse di blasfemia. È un modo premeditato per minacciare, distruggere e depredare le proprietà dei cristiani, e se possibile anche ucciderli". Secondo Zaman Khan, un attivista musulmano, "quanto accaduto conferma che i nostri leader non considerano le minoranze religiose cittadini uguali agli altri pakistani. Dobbiamo lottare contro questa ideologia che spinge le persone ad attaccare il prossimo" solo perché di un'altra religione. Dello stesso avviso anche un altro musulmano, Arif Ayyaz, secondo il quale "è il momento di alzare la voce contro l'ineleggibilità dei nostri politici". Tra aprile e maggio prossimi in Pakistan si terranno le nuove elezioni generali.

La foto è stata coperta con vernice spray e il manifesto accanto strappato. Il fatto è avvenuto nel giorno del rogo alle case cristiane di Lahore. Il ministro per le Minoranze religiose è stato ucciso nel 2011 per la sua lotta alle leggi sulla blasfemia. Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Il memoriale dedicato a Shahbaz Bhatti, ministro cattolico per le Minoranze religiose assassinato nel 2011, è stato vandalizzato. Il ritratto è stato sfregiato con della vernice spray e il manifesto in suo onore strappato. I fiori e le candele che incorniciavano il monumento sono spariti. Il fatto è avvenuto in pieno giorno il 9 marzo scorso, quando una folla ha dato fuoco a 178 case in un quartiere cristiano di Lahore. I due incidenti sarebbero collegati. Il memoriale di Bhatti si trova nel settore I/8 della città, uno dei punti di maggior traffico. Tuttavia, nessuno avrebbe fatto niente per fermare gli autori del gesto, tutt'ora sconosciuti. Shahbaz Bhatti è stato ucciso il 2 marzo 2011 in un agguato, compiuto da un gruppo di uomini a volto coperto. Secondo le indagini, il ministro cattolico sarebbe stato assassinato per la sua lotta contro le leggi sulla blasfemia. È nota, fra gli altri, la sua difesa di Asia Bibi, cristiana e madre di cinque figli condannata a morte in base alla "legge nera".

Dalle moschee parte l’avvertimento: torneremo dopo il Ramadan per un attacco finale. Lahore (AsiaNews) – Una folla di musulmani, armati di pistole e spranghe di ferro, ha attaccato ieri la Nuova chiesa apostolica di Hadyara, alla periferia di Lahore. Gli assalitori hanno picchiato in maniera selvaggia diversi fedeli che si trovavano all’interno dell’edificio, fra cui un bambino, ed hanno distrutto alcune proprietà della comunità. Dopo l’attacco, gli assalitori hanno promesso ai cristiani - tramite i megafoni delle moschee vicine – di tornare alla fine del mese sacro di Ramadan per un “attacco finale”. Inoltre, sempre dai megafoni, hanno invitato gli industriali ed i contadini della zona a non permettere ai cristiani di entrare nelle loro proprietà, e tanto meno fare affari con loro.




La polizia di Lahore è intervenuta soltanto ad attacco concluso, ma è rimasta a sorvegliare l’edificio per tutta la notte. Secondo alcuni politici locali, i cristiani “saranno salvaguardati dal nostro governo fino alla conclusione di Ramadan”. Tuttavia, i dirigenti della stazione di polizia locale non confermano. Oggi, poi, nela zona di Peshawar estremisti islamici, hanno attaccato sei negozi che vendono dischi ed uno di barbiere, gli uni e l'altro considerati, contrari, alla morale musulmana. Il bilancio. The mob looted, stoned, doused in acid and then burned the Christian settlement. Local imam: "We'll find the Christian and kill him.". Lahore (AsiaNews) - This morning, an angry mob set fire to over 100 homes in the Joseph Colony Christian settlement, near Badami Bah (Lahore). Residents were forced to flee and at least 35 people were injured. The attack resulted from an accusation of blasphemy registered against one of the settlement residents, Sawan Masih, who yesterday afternoon had an altercation with a Muslim. According to initial reports, the 26 year old Christian went to the Islamic barber for a haircut, but the store owner, Imran Shahid, refused to serve him. A heated discussion arose between the two, and the Muslim reportedly used offensive words about Christianity. Together with other people, Shahid then went to the nearby police station, the group recorded a charge of blasphemy against Masih (art.295C), arguing that the young man was drunk and had insulted the Prophet Muhammad. Shortly after, the police arrested the Christian. The maximum penalty under that law is life imprisonment. The anger of the Islamic community did not subside however, and this morning a large group of people ransacked Joseph Colony, then set fire to the homes. "We were working like every day - Salamat Masih, a resident of the settlement told AsiaNews - when we started to hear a noise, and suddenly a wall of people fell upon the colony. Islamabad (AsiaNews) - The memorial dedicated to Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan's Catholic minister of Minority Affairs murdered in 2011, was vandalised in broad daylight last Saturday. The pictured was paint sprayed and a poster honouring him was ripped off. Flowers and candles that framed the monument have disappeared. The incident occurred at the same time as a mob set fire to 178 homes in a Christian neighbourhood in Lahore. The two are connected. The Bhatti Memorial is located in Lahore's Sector I/8, one of the areas with the most traffic. And yet, no one tried to stop the perpetrators, who remain at large. Shahbaz Bhatti was killed on 2 March 2011 in an ambush by masked men. According to the investigation, the Catholic minister was killed for his opposition to the blasphemy law. He was also well known for defending Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five sentenced to death on the basis of the 'black law'.

Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Pakistani Christians and Muslims have joined together in their condemnation of the arson attack on a Christian neighborhood of Lahore, where on March 9 last 178 houses were razed to the ground. As a sign of respect, today the Christian schools of Lahore and Karachi will remain closed for the entire day. Yesterday thousands of people in Faisalabad - including women, children, priests, nuns and Muslim activists - organized a sit-in in the main street of the city, which ended peacefully with a general prayer. Meanwhile, the situation in the country remains tense. In Islamabad some people attacked Christians, but without setting fire to their homes. The fire at Lahore's Joseph Colony came after the arrest for blasphemy - reported a day before - by a young Christian accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad by a local barber.




Ameena Zaman, a Muslim activist for human rights, says that "the police had ordered the Christians of Joseph Colony to evacuate their homes 12 hours before the accident. If the police knew that there would be an attack, why did they do nothing to save the Christians? ". For Fr. Bonnie Mendes, the Lahore attack "unequivocally shows the evil intentions that lie behind accusations of blasphemy. This was a premeditated way to threaten, destroy and loot the property of Christians, and possibly even kill them." According to Zaman Khan, a Muslim activist, "what happened confirms that our leaders do not consider religious minorities equal citizens of Pakistan. We must fight against this ideology that drives people to attack their neighbor" only because they are of another religion.




Another Muslim of the same opinion is Arif Ayyaz who adds "it is time to speak out against the ineligibility of our politicians." Pakistan will vote in general elections between April and May this year.
